Custom luxury homes
Architect-driven, one-of-one homes designed around the owner, the site, and the view. Premium materials, custom details, no two alike. Most of our recent Bozeman work falls here.
Mountain modern homes built for the Gallatin Valley — site work, design-build, and full custom construction under one roof. From dirt to done.
Our Approach
Most builders in the Gallatin Valley sub out the dirt. We don't. Blackstone is one of the only companies in southwest Montana that handles both civil infrastructure — roads, utilities, grading, drainage — and the residential build itself, under one roof. That means your project has a single point of accountability from the first survey to the day you walk in the front door. Fewer handoffs. Fewer schedule fights between a civil contractor and a GC. Clearer communication about what's getting done and when. When something breaks — a permit timeline shifts, a soil report reveals a surprise, a subcontractor falls behind — there's one team to solve it, not two pointing fingers.

Local Expertise
Building in the Gallatin Valley isn't like building anywhere else. Soils run from rocky alluvial fan at the foothills to deep silty clay near the river. Frost lines push four feet down. Snow loads vary 30–50 pounds per square foot by elevation, and the building department has opinions about every one of those numbers.
We design for the actual conditions, not boilerplate. Proper insulation envelopes for a Montana winter. Roof pitches that shed snow correctly. Mechanical systems sized for elevation. Grading that keeps spring snowmelt out of basements. We know which inspectors look at what, which permits run fast, and which subcontractors actually show up.
Most of our work sits inside a 30-mile arc from Bozeman — Hyalite, the Bridger and Bangtail front, Manhattan and Belgrade, Four Corners. We know the lots in The Summits because we developed them. The premium in Bozeman isn't on the cheapest builder. It's on the one who's been here long enough to do it right.
Our Process
Every project we take runs through the same five phases. We don't treat any of them as throwaway. The pre-build work is where the cost overruns get prevented, and the closeout is where the warranty story actually gets told.
Walk the lot with you before you commit. Soils, drainage, sun, neighbors, view corridors, build envelopes.
Bring your architect, or work with one of ours. We're in the design conversation early to flag costs and Montana-climate details.
Site surveys, civil engineering, permits, septic, well, HOA review. We handle the agency calls so you don't lose three months chasing them.
Single point of contact. Real progress updates on schedule and budget. You know what's happening before you ask.
Punchlist, final inspections, as-builts, manuals, walkthrough. We're a phone call away through year one and beyond.

Featured Community
The Summits is a 35-homesite community on Bozeman's south side, minutes from Hyalite Canyon. We're the builder of record for the community — meaning we developed the civil infrastructure, we've built the early homes, and we're the team buyers work with on most of the lots. If you've bought or are considering a lot at The Summits, you can work with us directly on a custom build. We know the soils, the easements, the HOA design review process, and the construction logistics. We've already solved most of the problems your build will run into, on previous builds in the same subdivision. If you don't have a lot yet but want one in the community, we can introduce you to lots that are still available, and walk you through what fits.
